Zvi Almog

Dr. Zvi Almog, Chairman of the executive committee, is a recognized documentary film-maker and one of the country's leading authorities in the documentation of Jewish and Israeli history.

Dr. Almog conceived of and created the acclaimed five-part television documentary "Israel: A Nation is Born" narrated by the late Israeli ambassador the Honorable Abba Eban. As the Executive Producer of the series, Dr. Almog conducted a massive fundraising campaign, raising $5 million from hundreds of individual supporters, foundations and corporations, as well as priceless contributions of materials and film footage from such institutions as the United Nations' film archives, the government of Germany, and Steven Spielberg historical film archives.

Dr. Almog directed and produced the film as a means of telling the dramatic story of Israel's birth and survival in an era when so many of the facts and nuances have been forgotten. "It is now more important than ever that people understand the historical background of the current conflict in the Middle East." In consideration of the mistrust that accompanies increasingly biased media reporting, "Israel: A Nation is Born" is one of the rare depictions of the Arab-Jewish conflict presented in a fair and comprehensible manner.

Currently, Almog is involved in the fundraising and pre-production stages of his next documentary film project which chronicles the fascinating story of the growth of United States' Jewry and the integral importance of the Jewish presence to the country's character and development.

Dr. Almog is a graduate of the famous Dropsie College in Philadelphia. He counts among his teachers the world renowned Professors Ben Zion Netanyahu and the late Solomon Zeitlin and Israel Efros.
