Joel Friedman

With nearly four decades of experience as a national lay leader, and a senior development professional, Joel Friedman has directed his own consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, management consulting and fundraising for the past 25 years.

A former executive with United Jewish Appeal, Joel has worked with Federations and communities throughout the world. In his last post as Executive Vice Chairman, he had oversight for supervising 70 campaign consultants and strategic planning responsibilities for the Annual and Special Campaigns.

Mr. Friedman has cultivated relationships and worked with volunteer leaders around the world. An innovative thinker, he has created and developed a wide range of initiatives to attract and engage philanthropists. His expertise on American Jewish demographics and philanthropy, has earned him an international reputation as an effective educator, trainer, fundraiser, speaker and strategist.

Joel serves in a variety of local and national leadership positions including a board member of the Overseas and Allocation Committee of the Miami UJA Federation, the Israel Overseas Committee of NYC UJA Federation (2002-2006), and the Northeast Board of the Diabetes Research Institute of Miami.

Joel and his wife, Vicki, live in New York and Miami. They have five children and six grandchildren — so far.
