Martin Toub

Martin Toub has been producing and directing documentaries, television programs and educational films since 1982. Music and music education projects have been a large part of Mr. Toub's filmmaking career.

In 1998 he directed Exploring the World of Music, a twelve part Annenberg-funded tele-course. The program introduced basic musical concepts from a world music perspective and featured artists and performances from around the world. Mr. Toub has also produced a number of short films for Warner Bros. Records highlighting the work of artists such as Josh Redman, Brad Mehldau and Kirk Whalum. In the 1980's Mr. Toub shot some of the first and now "classic" rap music videos for artists such as MC Lite, Big Daddy Kane and Heavy "D". Mr. Toub has produced and directed a variety of long form documentaries for Public and Cable Television. These works include The Other Half Revisited: The Legacy of Jacob A. Riis, From Swastika to Jim Crow, TheTrial of the Chicago 8 and The 1992 Lincoln Douglas Debates.

In 2005 he received a National Emmy Award for the Nick News Special, Never Again: from the Holocaust to the Sudan. Mr. Toub is currently in production on Nick News, "Rebels With a Cause".
